A Farewell

Dear Fellow Members of the FPS Australian Community,

The purpose of this letter is to give you all advance notice that this year – my 25th in FPS – will be my last. As many of you know, several years ago, I made the shift from 30+ years in school education into a new phase of life as a university academic. The success and trajectory of this ‘new’ career as my contemporaries retire has reached a point where it is necessary to focus upon that life alone, and so, after 18 years as National Director, I will be stepping down from the position and any involvement in FPSP Australia as of November 26th.

Aside from a coach training day on Nov 24th, the Finals in October will be my public FPS swansong in Australia. I look forward to sharing with you what will be, for me, as it has always been, the best part of the FPS year. There is nothing in education that can take the place of being with nearly 400 young Australians celebrating their successes, as well as absorbing all the experience has to offer.

I thank you all for being part of this wonderful Program; it has been a pleasure and privilege for me to see so many generations of young Australians develop into keen and insightful thinkers on the national and international stage. I wish you all a full and rewarding final term, and my very best wishes for all the FPS years to come.
